The Communications Department presents the first Anime Evolution YouTube Commercial Contest.
Members of the AE community are invited to compete by creating brief, family-friendly, videos to promote the convention. Selected videos will be uploaded on to YouTube via the official Anime Evolution video channel.

International Manga artists have two months to enter their works for the Third International MANGA Award.
The award honours international MANGA artists who have contributed to the promotion of MANGA overseas. Entries, including works already published, are accepted from both commercial and non-commercial artists.
Up for grabs is one grand prize (The Golden Prize) and three runner up prizes. All winners are invited to attend the 2009 awards ceremony in Japan.

The New Asian Film Festival Society sponsors a monthly film series. On Saturday Nov 22 (from 7pm – 10:30pm), they will be having a Japanese Animation night at the following location:
Address: Richmond Cultural Centre, 7700 Minoru Gate, Richmond BC.
Most of the animated films are by Japanese-Canadian film makers. Some of the Canadian Film Makers will be in attendance for a Q&A. Also to be shown will be several episodes of the TV series Mushi-shi as an example of anime.

Vancouver’s 12th annual Asian Film Festival is taking place at the Cinemark Tinseltown Theaters on 88 and West Pender Street.
The four-day festival, running from Nov. 6 until Nov. 9, features independent Asian films produced in North America.

Monkey Majik is a Japanese rock band, consisting of two Canadian brothers and two Japanese musicians. They will be performing in Vancouver on Monday November 3 at Richards on Richards. Tickets are $12 through Tickmaster (19+ years admission).

I’d like to announce the winner of the Judges Choice for the AE 2009 Mascot Contest: Naruru!! Congratulations!!
It was a close decision, which took awhile to sort out in a second voting process among the judges. Her design will be used for all AE 2009 promotional material along with being the main character design on the official AE 2009 Staff t-shirt.

Now that’s done, we can rest until we start up the AE 2010 contest. The 2010 contest will be announced before the end of 2008.
